- To show the parallel alignment of dark minerals and provide an opportunity to discuss mineralization under pressure
- To open a discussion about processes that happened during the geologic history of an area including: 1) the origin of granite; 2) what could cause subsequent metamorphism; 3) how the resulting rock gets up to the surface where it can be observed
